What are the thee qualities of a good leader?
I think a good leader leads by example, has impeccable integrity, and knows where they are going.
If you can travel anywhere in the world, where would that be and why?
I would go back to Togo, West Africa. My family and I lived in Togo for 6 years. We have many friends and fond memories from our life there. I would love to go back and see everyone. I love the people and culture of Togo.
What is your typical morning routine to start your day and get motivated?
I get up every morning at 6am and spend the first 2 hours having “me time.” I spend an hour or so in prayer then I read the Bible and get my schedule for the day organized. This is what sets my heart, mind, energy, and passion on track for the day.
What are your (3) staple outfits in your closet?
I have black jeans, blue jean capris, and black yoga pants. They mix and match with my all time favorite black tank (which I have 6 of the same shirts), my snuggly sweatshirt, and a cute dressy top that’s black with flowers.
What is your definition of a DivaGirl?
My definition of a DivaGirl is a woman who has strength and confidence. Not because she is better than anyone else…but because she has learned to love and accept herself fully. A DivaGirl lives to inspire other women and seeks to help others find their voice and passion in life. We rise by lifting others!
How does being a DivaGirl make you feel empowered and inspired?
Just being around a group of women who are pursuing their dreams and are willing to help others along the way is beautiful and inspiring. We all have something to offer. DivaGirl takes away the competitiveness and embraces unity by celebrating and lifting every woman!
What are your three major accomplishments and why?
I got married my first year of college and had to drop out for financial reasons. I went back to college after having 3 kids, while living in Africa and finished my degree 23 years later. I lived in Albertville, France for 1 ½ years. I learned to speak French fluently. I lived in Togo, West Africa for 6 years and worked withpoverty-stricken people and orphans.
What’s the one piece of advice you would give to other business owners/want to start a business?
I would say go for it! One of the biggest parts of building any business is learning to get out of your own head and live out loud. Believe in what you want to do. Share it with everyone and be consistent!
Favorite Quote/Motto that you live by?
This is hard…I love so many quotes! My favorite most recently is “Weak is he who permits his thoughts to control his actions; strong is he who forces his actions to control his thoughts.” -Og Mandingo
If you can have dinner with someone from past, present, or future who would it be and why?
My dad. He died when I was 2 years old. I don’t remember him at all. I would love the opportunity to know him.
What is the last book you read?
The last book I read was “Church Boy to Millionaire” by Doug Wood. It’s one of my top 5 favorite books I’ve ever read!
What has been challenging for you as an entrepreneur? The most challenging part for me as an entrepreneur was my limiting beliefs. I’ve had to learn how to recognize my limiting beliefs and change them.
How did you overcome it?
I worked hard to become an observer of my thoughts. In doing so, I was able to recognize what beliefs I had that weren’t serving me and change them. It’s an amazing gift to be able to change our thoughts!
What are the (3) things you love about yourself/make you unique?
I love that I’m striving to be the best version of myself. I love that I’ve chosen to pursue optimal health. I love that I’m living my dream.
What is your favorite thing to do to recharge your mind and your body?
My favorite thing to do to recharge my mind and body is spending down time with my husband. We’ve been married 25 years and he is the love of my life. Being with him recharges me every time!
